The Creepy Cheapy Halloween Treat 6.66: This is the ultimate costume cover-set concert. Twenty local bands will perform on three stages and embody (in appearance and in song) contemporary and classic icons like Drake, Stevie Wonder, the Spice Girls, Amy Winehouse, M.I.A., Elton John and, of course, Spinal Tap. “There’s a spark in the process of living these songs,” says local writer, performer and promoter Phreddy Wischusen. “The performers need the songs as bad as we do, and they want to prove to the audience and to themselves that they can be their favorite band.” There will be plenty of free candy throughout the four main halls of the Crofoot, along with DJs spinning throughout the night. 7 p.m. The Crofoot: 1 S. Saginaw, Pontiac. 248-858-9322. www.creepycheapy.com. $5 advance, $10 day of show.

Zombie Dance Party: This is a local tradition that started in a garage in Ferndale 11 years ago. It has since been hosted in various venues such as the Magic Stick in Detroit and the Loving Touch in Ferndale. This party is for those nostalgic for Vincent Price, the Munsters and the original 1968 “Night Of The Living Dead.” There’s particular emphasis on charm, as in: Who can come up with the most charmingly inventive costume. Local bands like post-punk garage-glam specialists the Pretty Ghouls and 70s-style hard rockers the Deadly Viper Assassination Squad will perform, along with a shadow puppet menagerie. There’ll be a Zombinator makeup station (for those who come in need of costumes) and DJs spinning throughout the night. 9 p.m. The New Way Bar, 23130 Woodward, Ferndale. 248-541-9870. www.newwaybar.com. $10.

Elektric Circus: Zombie Party: With Elektric Circus, Halloween partygoers will experience the latest and greatest in electronic dance music, curated and spun by notable producer DJ Troublemaker. Along with the usual dazzling display of lights, beats and booming bass, attendees can experience the sensational performing aspects of the Elektric Circus, which include burlesque dancers, stilt walkers, fire performers and more. Costumes are, of course, highly encouraged. 9:30 p.m. Elektricity Nightclub, 15 S. Saginaw, Pontiac. 248-599-2212. www.elektricitymusic.com. $10.

The Masquerade of the Red Death: Inspired by Poe’s compellingly creepy tale of masked revelers spooked out by a ghostly surprise guest, this event features live actors re-creating the story throughout the various rooms of the venue. Each room will feature a different type of entertainment, with dancing side shows, magic, roving performance artists, burlesque and ballet dancers, psychics, fortune-tellers and more. There are two rules for attendees: You have to dress in masquerade attire and you cannot wear red! 7 p.m. The Crofoot, 1 S. Saignaw St, Pontiac. 248-858-9322. info@thecrofoot.com. $35, $65 VIP.

Haunted Kingdom presents ‘Masque Detroit’: This is a spectacular Halloween costume party mixing glamour and grit and extravagance with a bit of the underground. Grammy-nominated electronic-dance singer-performer Nadia Ali is the featured performer of the night, topping off what will already prove to be a formidable dance party inside the stark and cinematic atmosphere of this former factory-space. Expect stadium-quality concert sound and lighting, along with cirque-style performers and a laser show. A shuttle is provided for any guests coming in from out of town. 8 p.m. The Russell Industrial Center, 1600 Clay Ave., Detroit. info@masquedetroit.com. $40.

Motor City Nightmares’ Halloween Monster Bash: Motor City Nightmares had been hosting a popular annual horror film expo every April in Novi, when devotees started encouraging the group to try hosting a Halloween costume party. Passionate horror film lovers will find more than kindred spirits at this shindig. Particularly fun features include bobbing for brains (Jell-O brains, that is) and a Scooby-Doo-tinged scavenger hunt throughout the hotel. Local band Soldiers Last Breath will perform at 10 p.m. and there’ll be a costume contest (for those who enter early in the evening) along with “Scary-okie.” 7 p.m. The Sheraton Detroit Novi, 21111 Haggerty Road, Novi. www.motorcitynightmares.com. $25, $50 VIP.

George Morris & the Gypsy Chorus (& Friends) Do Disney: After local electro-rock quartet the Gypsy Chorus half-jokingly imagined doing a covers concert devoted to the catalog of Disney movie hits, its members soon realized the prospect was exciting. “Seriously,” said GMGC keyboardist Helena Kirby, “haven’t you had the itch to belt-out ‘Hakuna Matata’ at the top of your lungs with a room full of buzzed friends dressed up as Disney characters? Expect crowd favorites and some forgotten gems, spanning the years from “Pinocchio” to “Toy Story.” A dozen or more local musicians from other bands will join GMGC for various recitals throughout the night, along with DJ Jezy spinning some fun tunes. 9 p.m. The Loving Touch, 22634 Woodward Ave., Ferndale. www.lovingtouchferndale.com. Free.

Monster’s Ball: The entire Fillmore Theatre transforms into an epic (and eerie) ballroom for glamorous ghouls! DJ Boji (David Boji), DJ Chrome (Fadi Yousif) and DJ AK (Ahmad Kawsan) will be spinning throughout the night, with live performances from Kenny Spear, Lewis Hensley and Drew32. Non-musical entertainment includes spectacles such as fire-breathers, stage dancers, high-wire aerialists, illusionists, cirque-style performers and more. 8 p.m. The Fillmore Detroit, 2115 Woodward Ave., Detroit. 248-543-1000. www.monstersballdetroit.com. $20, $50 VIP.

A Very ’90s Halloween!: Halloween seems to be all about nostalgia for adult partygoers. And as odd as it might seem for Generation Y, the ’90s are now fair game for nostalgia. Local bands will perform as ’90s icons like Hole, Faith No More, L7 and White Zombie! Attendees are highly encouraged to don ’90s attire (use your imagination). 9 p.m. The Loving Touch, 22634 Woodward Ave., Ferndale. www.thelovingtouchferndale.com. $5.

Theatre Bizarre

Theatre Bizarre has been the singular, must-see annual event since it launched (illegally) in the early days of the 21st century. Year after year, its creators return with a spectacular event unlike anything else on earth.Since finding its permanent home at Detroit’s Masonic Temple (the largest in the world), Theatre Bizarre has been offering progressively grander and more decadent events to those lucky enough to get a ticket. In late October each year, thousands of elaborately-clad and eager attendees fill the carved stone hallways of the labyrinthine tower as they move throughout the night from one indescribable performance to another. Detroit’s most adventurous souls slipping anonymously past each other as they celebrate their darkest selves into the early hours of the morning. It’s proven to be a very popular formula. In fact, the biggest challenge facing Theatre Bizarre has always been capacity. And now, they’ve solved the problem in grand style. The Grand Preview Gala offers a whole new, far more intimate Theatre Bizarre experience. With just a few hundred attendees (as opposed to the thousands that attend the main event) the night is an elegant affair with an open bar, strolling dinner and valet parking included in the price of admission. Gala guests will enjoy selected performances from past shows, highlights from this year’s show, and exclusive sets created especially for that night only. Costumed attendees will follow a trail of fire-eaters, burlesque performers and musical acts as they follow the evening’s path through the transformed historic site. October 13th and 14th October 20th and 21st
